Spotlight on... Marie Curie

Continuing with our feature on each of our members; this week, find out more about Marie Curie....

The equivalent of almost a quarter of all people cared for by Marie Curie last year was thanks to gifts left in supporters' Wills. That's the equivalent of 10,000 people who without legacy gifts would not have had access to this special care and support at the end of their lives.

Karen Green explains how Marie Curie Nurses supported her and her mum, Elsie Sands, and why she has remembered Marie Curie with a gift in her Will.

"When Mum was diagnosed with a terminal illness, it was so important to us that she be able to stay at home where she would feel safe and peaceful - rather than going into a hospital.

Thankfully Marie Curie provided Mum with one to one care, and granted that important wish.

The Marie Curie Nurses who cared for my mum were amazing. They were pure angels. They were wonderful at helping Mum with her symptoms, but not only that, they also gave us both emotional support. It was such a comfort to get that level of professional care without having to go into a hospital.

Because Marie Curie Nurses cared for Mum, we were able to make the most of the time we had left with her. They helped make lasting memories during what was an extremely difficult and emotional time.

I am eternally grateful to Marie Curie. I want to make sure they are able to continue providing wonderful care for future generations of people like my mum, which is why I have left them a gift in my Will.

Elsie and Karen

I've seen first-hand the difference they make, helping to make someone's precious final days as peaceful as possible."

Over the next five years, Marie Curie plan to increase the care we provide to reach 50,000 people each year. We simply cannot do this without your support.
